We are pleased to announce the official launching of BetterAid.org! This site is especially designed as both an information and organizing tool for use by individuals, communities, social movements, development activists, civil society organizations, governments, media, international institutions - in short, anybody who is interested, involved and working on development issues in general and the aid architecture and aid effectiveness agenda in particular. We encourage and welcome the participation of all our visitors to this collaborative effort of sharing knowledge, skills, information and experience by actively contributing to this website. The website is designed not only to provide information but to involve you in the current discussions and link you into the various civil society organizations' (CSO) and official activities and events related to aid issues. The main website's sections on activities and events provide you with links to campaigns, conferences, workshops, consultations and other related activities and events that you might want to join. Register on site and send us your comments, feedback, suggestions, news articles, useful links and any other information on the aid architecture and aid effectiveness that you would like to share with others and which we can post. You can also visit and contribute your ideas and articles by posting them on our blog section (www.betteraid.org/blog). Here you will "find out all the gossip, inside stories and interesting tit-bits on how rich country governments and multilateral institutions are spending their aid money." By providing useful, easily accessible, relevant and up-to-date information on the above topics, the website aims to respond to the different needs of its various users - from ordinary people who want basic information on development and aid (what is development? what are current issues related to aid?); to 'development specialists' who are looking for more specific information or the latest policy documents on aid effectiveness; or to a journalist or researcher looking for relevant reference materials to write about development and aid issues. A specific aim of the site is to facilitate and support the efficient collaboration, participation and mobilization of civil society (CS) and civil society organizations (CSOs) for the various engagement processes related to the OECD sponsored High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness (HLF 3) scheduled to take place in September 2008 in Accra, Ghana. This will be done by providing news, resources, documents, useful links and a calendar of schedules / events related to official, CSO and related processes i.e. UN, World Bank-IMF, EU, etc. in preparation for and during the Ghana forum. There are also selected documents translated in French, Portuguese, Arabic and Spanish to service the information needs of other global regions. We hope that the various sections and categories of the website - news, resources, activities, calendar, links, feeds, official and CSO documents and processes - will provide an easily accessible and updated information source on aid architecture and aid effectiveness issues for both experts and non-experts and a variety of client sectors and communities. The site team at IBON Europe looks forward to your engagement in the discussions, activities and exchanges. We hope your visit will be informative, useful and enjoyable. Welcome to BetterAid.Org! |
