BetterAid events at the UN Least Developed Countries conference

After a series of preparatory meetings, heads of state and government are meeting 9-13th May in Istanbul to craft the programme of action for 2011 to 2020 for the 48 Least Developed Countries (LDCs) of the world.

10th May- “CSOs on the Road to Busan: Peoples’ perspective on development effectiveness”
BetterAid coordinates a discussion on civil society’s call to all development actors at the High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness (HLF-4) in Busan in November.

8th May- "LDCs and Aid/Development Effectiveness- from Istanbul to Busan"
Korean civil society organizations (Korean Civil Society Forum on International Development Cooperation) KOFID and Global Call for Action Against Poverty (GCAP) discuss the linkages between LDCs and aid and development effectiveness, and introduce the civil society forums and civil society preparatory process towards the HLF-4.

BetterAid statement and press release

BetterAid has issued a statement and press release, calling for the UN LDC-IV Conference to transcend ‘business as usual’ to yield robust and ambitious plans. According to BetterAid, this is the only way that the gap between the ‘haves and have-nots’ can be narrowed within the coming decade.
